For both NSDL e-Gov and UTI Infrastructure PAN card online applications, the photograph must be:

My file is still over 50KB even after resizing. What do I do?
Reduce the JPEG Quality slider in the tool. Try setting it to 70–80%. The file size preview updates in real time. Most photographs compress well below 50KB at 75% quality while remaining visually acceptable for identification purposes.
Can I use this tool for Aadhaar, Passport, or other government form photos?
Yes! Switch to Custom Size mode and enter any target dimensions and file size limit. This tool is useful for resizing photos for Aadhaar enrolment, passport applications, driving licence, voter ID, UPSC, SSC, bank forms, and any other government or employment forms.
What if my photo has a coloured background?
NSDL and UTI prefer a white or light background. If your original photo has a coloured background, upload it anyway and crop it tightly. You can increase the Brightness slider slightly to lighten the background. For best results, take or retake the photo in front of a white wall in good lighting.
